Own a spectacular, rare poster classic! This amazing piece features an incredible color action shot of the great running rebel himself, Steve Prefontaine, crossing the line for another victory at his legendary home track, the University of Oregon's Hayward Field, in front of his adoring and enthusiastic Eugene fan base. The intensity, the emotion, the exhaustion, of the world's most famous track star of the early 1970s, is truly iconic and unique, and to this day, still inspires athletes worldwide.
Published at some point in the late 1970s or early 1980s to commemorate the life and passing of Pre, we obtained this one in a large lot of vintage Nike posters from a collector in Oregon. While there's no copyright information or Nike emblems on the poster itself, we're quite sure it was a local Nike release, perhaps for sale or distribution on race day at the track. Nike collectors and historians will love the full-color view of Pre's prototype Nike running shoes in action! Condition on this poster is excellent - we believe it has never been hung and displayed for any significant amount of time. There are single tiny pinholes in the top two corners, and some minor edge wear from handling and storage over the years. Will display spectacularly in a standard 24"x36" frame!
