48 Yard Line
A panoramic view in Houston - photographer Rob Arra

December 7, 1992. The run-and-gun Oilers are getting on a late-season roll. With the Chicago Bears in town riding a five-game losing streak, a packed Astrodome Monday Night crowd can smell blood - playoff blood! After a commanding victory in this game, and wins over the Browns and Bills in the season's final two weeks, the Oilers would earn a trip to Buffalo for the AFC Wildcard game. It was the final great late-season run for the Oilers in Houston!

This poster harkens back to the last great era in Houston Oilers football, before the franchise was stolen away to Nashville and stripped of its Oilers identity. It was an era of Warren Moon and Lorenzo White; of Haywood Jeffries and Curtis Duncan; of Jerry Gray and Ray Childress, and Bruce Matthews in mid-career form. It was a time when the Oilers were the hottest ticket in town, and the atmosphere in the Astrodome was electric!

Like all prints in Rob Arra's Everlasting Images collection, the entire stadium is in perfect focus, and as you pan across the image you feel like you are actually there, witnessing this great nationally televised event. From the stadium scoreboards, to the fans in the stands, to the players on the field, to the dozens of banners hung in the end zone and over the facades, to the countless cameramen and even the cheerleaders on the sidelines, it's all here! A stunning piece for the wall of any fan, and a great collector's item for Houston football fans who remember life before the Texans. Worthy of a nice frame and a prominent place on the wall of home or office.
