Columbus Blue Jackets

This panorama, taken by James Blakeway, spotlights one of the NHL's youngest teams, the Columbus Blue Jackets, playing against the Pittsburgh Penguins on their home ice in Columbus, Ohio. It all began in June 1997, when the National Hockey League awarded the city of Columbus an expansion franchise that would later be named the Blue Jackets. Just over three years later, on October 7, 2000, the club played its inaugural game before a sellout crowd of 18,136 fans. The name "Blue Jackets" was chosen to celebrate the patriotism, pride and rich Civil War history of the state of Ohio and the city of Columbus. The Blue Jackets play their home games at Nationwide Arena in downtown Columbus, which opened in 2000.

Step inside Nationwide Arena on playoff game night - there's no better place to be! This amazing panoramic shot was taken at the opening faceoff of Game 3 of the 2014 Eastern Conference Quarter Finals, as the Blue Jackets take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in a thrilling opening round series, with the home crowd as pumped up as they ever had been since the founding of the franchise in 2001. Printed in brilliant color and perfect focus on high-quality print stock, and complete with a sharp white border that includes the official team logo, the commemorative title, and a brief descriptive paragraph, this is both a beauty for the wall, and a rare collector's item for years to come. Perfect for the wall of home, office, or locker room!
