This vintage classic takes you back to 1985, when George Steinbrenner and the New York Yankees brass made a massive splash by trading for the league's most dynamic young superstar in his prime, Rickey Henderson. Featuring a brilliant shot of Rickey leading off a game at old Yankee Stadium in the classic pinstripes, busting it out of the box on his way to, likely, another base hit and stolen base, this is a true Rickey and Yankees classic for your wall. As with all posters in the "White Border" Sports Illustrated design that spanned the years 1978-1987, this one features the best of Sports Illustrated photography, the iconic white-bordered layout, and a facsimile signature from the player himself as part of the design.
This particular poster was obtained as part of our "Toledo Collection", obtained from a collector in Ohio who preserved his large collection of old 1980s Sports Illustrated posters flat, never displayed on the wall, and virtually untouched since purchasing them out of store racks back in the day. This one displays as well as it would have back in the 1980s, with just some minor typical imperfections consistent with any poster purchased at that time.
