Take a step back in time, to a glorious era in sports posters, and one of the greatest superstars the game has ever seen! This vintage classic takes you back to 1979, when the Cincinnati Reds made the grave mistake of letting their fan-favorite "Charlie Hustle", Pete Rose, leave as a free agent after 16 seasons with the Big Red Machine. Anyone who thought Pete was done, was very, very wrong. With a new lease on life, Pete kept on chuggin' with the Phillies, helping elevate them from an also-ran to World Series Champions in his first two seasons with the Phils, then hanging on for another National League Pennant run in 1983. This poster features an incredible shot of Pete at the plate during one of his earliest Phillies appearances, slashing another big hit into the gap, as another Phillies star, Greg Luzinski, looks on from the on-deck circle. As with all posters in the "White Border" Sports Illustrated design that spanned the years 1978-1987, this one features the best of Sports Illustrated photography, the iconic white-bordered layout, and a facsimile signature from the player himself as part of the design.

This particular poster has been in our collection for decades now, and displays as well as it would have back in '79 when you would have bought it mail-order out of an old SI ad, with just some minor typical imperfections consistent with any poster purchased at that time. The picture you see here is the actual poster you will receive! Don't miss your chance at this legendary piece, baseball fans - only one available.
